A phone for a tree???

http://thestar.com.my/gogreenlivegreen/story.asp?file=/2009/9/1/gogreenlivegreen/4602792&sec=gogreenlivegreen

It was awesome for this programmed..I think there are a lot of people do not know that if we recycle the mobile phone , we can have a tree on our name and can monitor its growth online through Google Earth..its really great!..but one things that i know which is most of us do not know where to recycle this things..surprisingly there are not much places taht have a recycling centre..only a few places like a town places will have this services .. so what about the rural areas which is far away from the town ..how they are going to join this programmed and how we are going to give them this opportunity and encouragement to save the environment..if the internet , wifi, wireless can go through the forest what about the recylcing center???...a lot of people using handphones and i can say that everybody have their own handphone ..and maybe more than one..imagine if every people in the world are going to join this programmed and how many trees that we can plant..amazing is it??..so anyone want to join this programmed can refer to the article and make sure your handphone are really broken then you can send here..if its a new one..no need to do so..:P

F1..for good and for bad..

F1 car for Malaysia team is one of good idea..indirectly we are going to improve our economic condition and make it much more better for the tourism. The reason i 'm taking this article is because i want to share about our environment..its good that after a decades..we finally improve our field in automotive ..but in other side..it also bring a bad impact to environment. There were two great impacts that comes out form this F1 racing event:

1.noise pollution
2.air pollution

Noise pollution that comes from the F1 racing car can lead a few impacts that maybe we are not realized ..such as..

1.detrimental effect on the growth of some plants
2.exposure to moderately high levels of noise for an eight hour can increase blood pressure and cause other cardiac issues
3.exposure excessively loud noise over long periods can also lead to partial deafness.
4.noise also can cause violence - many assults and murders can be attributed to a noise issue that spiralled out of control
5.in dairy cows excessive noise reduce feed comsumption , milk yield ,and rate of release

Air pollution also gives a few great impacts..such as
1.emission of carbon monoxide restricts the oxygen uptake by human which can cause drowsiness, headaches, and death
2.Nitrogen dioxide is harmful to vegetation, can fade and discolour fabrics, reduce visibility, and react with surfaces and furnishings. Vegetation exposure to high levels of nitrogen dioxide can be identified by damage to foliage, decreased growth or reduced crop yield.
3.elevated levels of nitrogen dioxide cause damage to the mechanisms that protect the human respiratory tract and can increase a person's susceptibility to, and the severity of, respiratory infections and asthma. Long-term exposure to high levels of nitrogen dioxide can cause chronic lung disease. It may also affect sensory perception, for example, by reducing a person's ability to smell an odour.

Above are a few reason why F1 racing is not a very good idea but somehow everything will have a solution..This event can be replace with a biofuel to run the cars ..eventhough it cost a lot but it save the environment and this is what we are looking for..:).. Biofuels are much less harmful when it comes to emissions into the air, because traditional fossil based fuels like gasoline and regular diesel have high sulfur and carbon emissions, as well as other greenhouse gases. Biofuels burn much cleaner, with few to none of these global warming causing emissions, and this is much better for the earth and environment. These fuels do not reduce any of the energy or power that is needed by the race cars to reach first place though. This makes biofuels a safe and friendly alternative that does not affect performance or efficiency.
Biofuels are made from biomass, which is cellulose material. This includes plant and animal matter. Ethanol is an alcohol based fuel, while biodiesel works by using oils and fats. Green car races are the wave of the future, and racing teams are getting in early. All it took was for the first biofuel race cars to finish in good positions, and show that these fuels are competitive and do not change the speed or performance of the car and engine. Once this happened them more racing teams started switching to fuel blends that include biofuels in the mix. Biofuel car racing proves what Europe has shown for years, that biofuels are a safe and eco-friendly alternative to fossil fuels, and biofuels will eliminate most of the damaging emissions and environmental damage that can be caused by auto races.

Basis Bay takes green further
By JO TIMBUONG
CYBERJAYA: Technology services and hardware solutions vendor, Basis Bay Sdn Bhd has taken the green IT movement to another level. Through its subsidy, Basis Bay Properties Sdn Bhd, it has built two new datacentres — in Cyberjaya and Glenmarie, Shah Alam — based on green architecture. According to its chief executive officer, Datuk Praba Thiagarajah, Basis Bay invested more than RM50mil in building the Green Datacentres and expects this amount to increase as it continues to improve the buildings to meet the latest environmentally-friendly requirements. The company doesn’t view its environment-friendly efforts as following the current fad in the IT sector but as a longterm plan that will help it use resources more efficiently. “It’s a natural progression of the company. We’ve always been green even before it was the in-thing, so this is just an extension of our environmentally-friendly policies,” he said at the launch of the datacentres in Cyberjaya. Before the company ventured into building datacentres, it sold pre-owned servers which it had first refurbished. The datacentres incorporate several environmentally-friendly features and is designed to lower the cost of cooling as well as heating. The features include the use of natural resources such as solar energy for lighting purposes and a storm/rain water management system for watering the gardens and provide supply to the toilets. The company is also patenting an architecture that recycles hot air from its air conditioner outdoor condenser units to provide hot water to the toilets in the building, which will be built in stages. The company offers a host of services from its datacentres ranging from webhosting to datacentre management. Basis Bay said it also plans to “green-up” its two other datacentres in Kulim Hi-Tech Park and Taman Temasya Shah Alam."

This article has been taken from the Star ..It was great cause there's still a party that willing to take care of the environment eventhough it cost a lot of money to do this...It takes time for the company to regain the profit , but it really helps in the future...I hope in the future there are a lot of company that will join this activity and hope that government will make it compulsary for all the building that will be build in this country so that we can prevent the gobal warming , ozone depletion and many others environmental damages..

Green buildings often include measures to reduce energy use, which this is the main thing that should be considered when build up a building.Increasing the efficiency to reduce energy used, it can be build using high efficiency windows and insulation in walls, ceilings , and floors.Effective window placement can provide more natural light and lessen the need for electric lighting during the day.Onsite generation of renewable energy through solar energy, wind power, hydro power, or biomass can significantly reduce the environmental impact of the building. Power generation is generally the most expensive feature to add to a building.

To reduce the impact on water treatment plants several options exist such as can reuse again the water that collected from waterharvesting to used as water flushing for toilets or any other uses .Centralized wastewater treatment systems can be costly and use a lot of energy. An alternative to this process is converting waste and wastewater into fertilizer.By collecting human waste at the source and running it to a semi-centralized biogas plant with other biological waste, liquid fertilizer can be produced. The building itself can have thier own waste water treatment and can convert this activities into side income for the company.

Green Effort

This article has been pick from the STAR, 30th April 2009 .Pete Teo , the actor and singer has take an action to save the environment by voicing up his concern about the global warming at staronline tv...you can watch the video by visiting this website http://thestaronline.tv/v/3310

The celebrity said that he already change about his life style like not using anymore plastic bag when shopping, not using air conditioning and not wasting the electricity when not in used..simple is it? Everybody can do it and i think if we have done this earlier..our earth still in the green zone and i think that the earth still can manage our grand grand children a trillion years more to go...some people need to read something or need to alert by the others just to ignite the spirit inside them to save the environment..for me this is not a positive sign for us to save the environment..because without this campaign, education, publishing or any other technique people are not realize that our earth is getting sick... with the global warming matters.Global warming is not the only environmental issues that has been occured on the earth. We have a lot of issues such as green recyling , greenhouse gases, energy conservation, pollution and other issues that may effect our environment and need a lot of our attention and contribution in order to save our planet.

Below are a few tips that all of us can follow to save our earth..may be i'm not a celebrity (follow the celebrity lifestyle)..but it is not waste if you apply some of these simple action in your daily life:

1.Reduce, reuse and recyle...3R -can do at any place..can do at home, office , school or in your community..
2.Use less air conditioning..- do not reduce the ozone layer...
3.Change a light bulb - change regular bulb to Compact Flourescent Light (CFL) bulbs..surprisingly if every house at the US change only one bulb to CFL , it would eliminate 90 billion pounds of greenhouse gasee, at the same as taking 7.5 million cars off the road..so go for it..
4.Drive less and drive smart- plan your journey...and car pool if they are on the same way..
5.Buy energy efficient products - tips when want to buy new car ..choose one that offers good mileage .
6.Plant a tree - If you have the means to plant a tree, start digging.During photosynthesis , trees and other plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen. They are an integral part of the natural atmospheric exchange cycle here on earth , but there are too few of them to fully counter the increases in carbon dioxide caused by the automobile traffic, manufacturing and other human activities.A single tree will absorb approximately one ton of carbon dioxide during its lifetime.
7.Use the "Off" Switch - easy step..if not in used then switch off please..
8.Encourage others to conserve - share the knowledge and technique...

Reduce,Reuse,Recycle....

This photo has been taken from Star, 30th April 2009...The ethics of a people nowadays has been decreased. The public is not concern anymore with the environment issues because we only concern about money..when we say about environment.. absolutely it will be a volunteer works and did not bring any income..so who cares about the environment???This attitude should be changed ..if we are not the person that will involve in this things..who should carries the responsibilities???

The 3R programmed is a volunteer basis..but until when the volunteer basis sholud be a guidance to ask the people to do the 3R..The 3R programmed is the simplest way to protect the environment.

Reduce anything that can lead to futher pollution such as buying products with minimal packaging..Recycle anything that you can , such as paper, plastic ,newspaper and aluminum cans....Reuse all the non recycle items..

*We are not going to do this for us..we are going to do this for our children*
